Danish Centre focuses on managing projects

"Our communication flow in The Danish Centre for Technical Aids for Rehabilitation and Special Education has become much more flexible due to the implementation of this new IT solution. The project managers have got a complete tool for managing projects and the management can quickly and efficiently follow the finance and accounts for the entire cen- tre as well as each separate departement" says Allan Mørkeberg, CEO at The Danish Centre.
About the Danish Centre

The Danish Centre for Technical Aids for Rehabilitation and Special Education is the Danish national information and re- source centre on disabilities and assistive technology.

The Danish Centre was founded in 1980, and is a non-profit organisation. Since 1985 it is partly financed through public funding granted by the Association of County Councils and the municipalities of Copenhagen, and partly financed through other sources of income such as project participation and consultancy.

The Danish Centre operates both on a national and an inter- national level, in co-operation with disability organisa- tions, government authorities, institutions, research centres and clearing houses, local contacts in the field of rehabilitation and education, as well as manufacturers and suppliers.

Among the activities are evaluation and testing of assistive technology for special education, alternative and augmen- tative communication and cognitive rehabilitation. The aim is to ensure a broad offering of remedies for different kinds of disabilities.

The Danish Centre for Technical Aids for Rehabilitation and Special Education distribute the results through scientific journals, reports and books about assistive technology. The organization is furthermore arranging conferences, coursers and workshops in relation to disabilities and assistive technology.

Improved financial follow-up

The important issue for the Danish Centre was an improve- ment of the financial follow-up. The communication flow was insufficient and the project managers had no access to the financial data on their projects.

At the same time there was a slow and laborious reporting process characterized by manual procedures and various isolated data.

Homogeneous Project Management Tool

By implementing Navision and the Microsoft Business Solu- tions certified add-on Project Management the Danish Centre obtained a modern and homogeneous ERP system, which has been implemented with only few adjustments.

Project Management provides the project managers with a high level of financial control in relation to the projects and consequently the Project Management solution is a tool when it comes to avoid budget exceeding. One of the most impor- tant advantages is the gathering of all data and the simplifi- cation of the communication flow related to the projects.

Now the managers are able to follow the projects on a monthly basis and consequently work out financial follow-up based on an easy and efficient access to data - also via the internet.
